Love wearing buttoned front shirts but hate the gaping? You are not alone.
A common issue for women wearing off-the-rack buttoned front shirts is gaping – that unsightly opening just at the chest area giving the world an insight to your bra. Here are some tricks to fix that:
- Safety pins: If your shirt has doubled fabric on each side of the front, you should be able to pin it so that the pin doesn’t show through
- Double sided tape: This can give you a smoother look than a pin though you may need to keep re-sticking it over the day. Hollywood Tape is our favourite brand, it’s easy to apply and usually holds together well
- Try a different bra, perhaps even a minimiser bra. We’ve heard good reviews about this one https://www.spanx.com/bras/unlined/low-profile-minimizer-bra
- Size up – go with the shirt that fits your chest without gaping and then take it to your local alteration tailor. They can add darts at the back to cinch in the waist. You will still have to compromise on the shoulder width though as that is not an easy alteration.
